Question
Why are blocked https websites displaying a message page?
Answer
When https websites are blocked by McAfee® Secure Home Internet (SHI), the browser will display a message "Your connection is not private" or "Can't Open the Page", instead of the McAfee® blocked page.  The McAfee® blocked page will not work when navigating to secured websites that begin with https such as amazon.com, youtube.com, email or social media sites.  Without the McAfee® blocked page, client devices will not be able send a request to the administrator to access the website.  Web browsers will do this as a security precaution to prevent malicious attacks and protect from inappropriate websites.  As a workaround the administrator can either update the Parental Controls Kid profiles by changing the specific Web categories to be Allowed or remove the client device from the Parental Controls Kid profiles to temporary allow access to the websites.  After the websites are allowed the administrator can reverse the workaround to block websites.  This document contains the following sections:
Displayed Message

When https websites are blocked by SHI, the page will display the message "Your connection is not private" or "Can't Open the Page".

NOTE: The exact message displayed may vary depending on the web browser and operating system.
