How do I install the McAfee® LiveSafe antivirus on a device using the McAfee® SHI app?

Answer

McAfee® LiveSafe is an antivirus security suite that offers protection for an unlimited number of Windows PCs, MACs, Android, and iOS devices. Install the security suite on each PC, MAC, and mobile device to protect against viruses and online threats. The McAfee® LiveSafe includes the following features:

Award-Winning Antivirus - Block viruses, malware, ransomware, spyware, and unwanted programs on the PC.
McAfee WebAdvisor - Avoid risky websites, prevent dangerous downloads and phishing attacks.
McAfee Shredder - Protects identity and privacy by permanently deleting important files for the PC-ideal for tax documents, financial information, and other personal files.
Security Management Console - Manage protection for all devices from an easy-to-use web page.
True Key by Intel Security - Enhanced password manager for securing passwords and instantly logs into websites and apps across the devices.
Secure Cloud Storage - Back up important files to the secure cloud storage.

The McAfee® Secure Home Internet (SHI) app detects antivirus protection on PC, MAC, and Android and iOS devices in the home network. Register the McAfee® LiveSafe 90-day free subscription by using the McAfee (SHI) app to install McAfee antivirus to a PC, MAC, Android and iOS device. This document describes how to install McAfee® LiveSafe software on a device and register the 90-day free subscription.

Requirements:

McAfee® Secure Home Internet (SHI) app activated with the SURFboard product
Supported client devices for McAfee® LiveSafe Installation
- PC and Mac personal computers
- Android and iOS mobile devices
- Tizen operated Samsung devices

Install McAfee® LiveSafe Software

Tap the McAfee SHI icon to launch the app. The Home screen will appear.
On the Home screen, tap on Devices. The Devices screen will appear.
On the Devices screen, tap the device with an red X shield symbol. The device details screen will appear.
On the device details screen, the Anti-virus field shows Not protected. Tap the Install McAfee button. The Secure Internet anti-virus protection screen will appear.

NOTE: When installing the McAfee® LiveSafe on a device with a 3rd party antivirus installed, it is recommended to uninstall the 3rd party antivirus software first.
On the Secure Internet anti-virus protection screen, enter a personal message or leave at default and then tap the Send button. The device details screen will appear.
On the device details screen, Installing... status under Anti-virus indicates the request was sent to the device.

NOTE: Click the Stop button to cancel the installation request. Then click the Stop button on the "Stop your Installation?" prompt.
On the client device, open a web browser and navigate to www.arris.com. The webpage will be redirected to Secure Internet site to download the LiveSafe software.

NOTE: The redirect to the McAfee page will not work when navigating to secured sites that begins with https such as google.com, yahoo.com, banks, email or social media sites.
On the Secure Internet site, tap the Download and Install link and it will redirect to the McAfee website.

NOTE: The Internet is blocked on the device and apps that use the Internet are also blocked. The device is required to install the McAfee LiveSafe software to access the Internet.
On the McAfee website click the Download button to install the antivirus.
- Mobile Device
  
  NOTE: The activation code is embedded on the link and is only used if McAfee LiveSafe is downloaded and activated separately. The Android device will be redirected to the Google Play Store and the iOS device will be redirected to the App Store to download the antivirus. After the app has been installed on the mobile device follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup.
- PC Version
  
  NOTE: Read the McAfee License Agreement, then click the Agree and Download button. The installation file downloads automatically. Double-click the installation file and follow the on-screen instruction to install and configure the antivirus.
- MAC Version
  
  NOTE: Read and accept the McAfee License Agreement, then click the Download button. The installation file downloads automatically. Double-click the installation file then double-click the McAfeeMacInstaller file and follow the on-screen instruction to install and configure the antivirus.
