Question
How do I enable Energy Efficient Ethernet? 
Answer
During periods of low data activity, Energy Efficient Ethernet allows for less power consumption by 50% or more while retaining full compatibility with existing equipment.  By default Energy Efficient Ethernet is disabled in the SB6183.  When Energy Ethernet Efficient is enabled the SB6183 will consume less power during periods of low data activity.  This document describes how to enable Energy Efficient Energy. 


Enable Energy Efficient Ethernet

NOTE
: If the SB6183 is connected to a router, it is recommended to disconnect the router and connect the SB6183 directly to a computer with an Ethernet cable.
  1. Launch a web browser, such as Internet Explorer, Firefox, or Safari.  Enter http://192.168.100.1 into the address box, and press the Enter key.  The Status page will appear.
     
  2. Click the Configuration link on the main menu.  The Configuration page will appear.

  3. Click the Energy Efficient Ethernet drop-down menu and select Enable.  The pop-up window will appear.

  4. On the pop-up window, click the OK button to reboot modem for changes to take effect.
