Question
Where is the wireless Network key located on my SBG6580?
Answer

The default wireless network key (sometimes referred to as the wireless password) is located on a white label at the bottom of the SBG6580. By default, the SBG6580 is configured for a wireless connection using WPA-PSK encryption.  If the wireless network key has been changed in the SBG6580, it can be retrieved by logging into the Graphical User Interface (GUI) of the SBG6580.

This document describes how to locate the default WPA-PSK wireless network key on the gateway, and how to locate the wireless network key if it has been changed.

To Lookup the Default Wireless Network Key

  1. Turn the gateway over with the bottom facing up.  The wireless network key will be displayed as the WPA-PSK key or the Wi-Fi Security Key (as seen below).

NOTE 1: The WPA-PSK key consist of 20 characters of numbers and lower-case letters.

NOTE 2: The Wi-Fi Security key consist of no spaces when entering into the wireless client.

NOTE 3: The PASSCODE and CD ROM PASSCODE are used ONLY with the CD Wi-Fi wizard to setup a wireless connection automatically.
