Question

How do I change the admin username and/or password on my SBG6580?

Answer
When attempting to access the SBG6580 Web Manager, the SBG6580 prompts for the default username and password.  The default admin username is admin and admin password is password.  For network security purposes, ARRIS recommends to change the default admin password after logging onto Web Manager.  This document describes how to change the default admin password.

Admin Login Consideration
  • Passwords are case sensitive and can contain special characters.
  • Backup changes made to the SBG6580 with the default admin login.  Please refer to article # 8942 - SBG6580 (v8.5.x): Configuration Backup and Restore.
  • Keep a record of the new admin password.  If it is lost, a reset to the factory default settings is required to access the SBG6580 web manager with default admin login credentials.  Please refer to article # 8878 - SBG6580 (v8.5.x) Factory Reset.
