Question
Where is the wireless network key located on my SBG6900-AC?
Answer

The default Wi-Fi Security key (sometimes referred to as the wireless password) is located on a white label at the bottom of the  SBG6900-AC.  By default, the  SBG6900-AC is configured for a wireless connection using WPA-PSK encryption.  If the Wi-Fi Security key has been changed in the  SBG6900-AC, it can be retrieved by logging into the Graphical User Interface (GUI) of the  SBG6900-AC.

This document describes how to locate the default Wi-Fi Security key on the gateway, and how to locate the Wi-Fi Security key if it has been changed.

  1. Turn the gateway over with the bottom facing up and or to the side.  The wireless password will be displayed as the Wi-Fi Security Key (as seen below).

NOTE 1:  The Wi-Fi Security Key consists of case-sensitive letters and numbers.

NOTE 2: Do not include the spaces between the characters when entering into the wireless client.

Right click on the image to save it to your computer.

To make a connection, configure the wireless client with the same SSID, WPA Version and Pre Shared Key as the gateway.

  1. Launch a web browser, such as Internet Explorer, Firefox, or Safari. Enter http://192.168.0.1 into the address box, and press the Enter key.  The Login page appears.

NOTE: By default the LAN IP address is 192.168.0.1.  If the default address has been changed, enter the custom address in the address box.

Right click on the image to save it to your computer.

  2. On the Login page, enter admin in the Username field.
  3. Enter password in the Password field.
  4. Click the Login button. The Home page appears.

Right click on the image to save it to your computer.

  5. On the Home page, click on Manage Wi-Fi Network.  The Wireless - Primary Network Settings page appears.

Right click on the image to save it to your computer.

  6. On the Wireless - Primary Network Settings page, in the WPA-PSK2 Security Settings section, the Wi-Fi Security key is displayed as the Passphrase (as shown below).

NOTE:  It is recommended to write down the Passphrase on a piece of paper for future reference.

Right click on the image to save it to your computer.

To make a connection, configure the wireless client with the same SSID, WPA Version and Pre Shared Key as the gateway.
