Question
What should I know about enabling / disabling bridge mode in the SBG7580-AC?
Answer
By default, the SBG6780-AC operates as a gateway, and provides Internet access for multiple devices (up to 253 devices), connecting to the SBG7580-AC.  The SBG7580-AC serves as a modem and a router and keeps the devices in the Local Area Network (LAN) hidden.  In certain situations, it may be desired to disable the router function of the SBG7580-AC, and have it operate as a modem only.  This can be accomplished by configuring the SBG7580-AC for Bridge Mode.  When Bridge Mode is enabled, the router function is turned off and the device directly connected to the SBG7580-AC will receive the Public IP address from the Cable Provider.  This document contains the following sections:

NOTE: A security or private risk alert may appear on the web browser advising users to proceed with caution when accessing the Web Manager. There is no risk in proceeding to the Web Manager.
