Question
How do I setup my SBG8300 Gateway to not broadcast a wireless network?
Answer
The SBG8300 Wi-Fi network name (SSID) broadcast concurrently over the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz band.  The SSID is visible to the Wi-Fi clients and the Wi-Fi clients connects to the Wi-Fi network by selecting the SSID and entering the Wi-Fi password.

Hiding the SSID increases security for the Wi-Fi network.  This will prevent Wi-Fi clients from detecting the SSID when viewing the available Wi-Fi networks.  When the SSID is hidden, Wi-Fi clients in the network will lose wireless connection and the SSID and Wi-Fi password will need to be manually entered into the Wi-Fi client's application to connect.  The WPS (Wireless Protected Setup) feature is disabled when the SSID is hidden.  The SSID must broadcast its SSID to utilize the WPS feature.  This document describes how to hide the SSID.
