Question
How do I install my SBM1000 MoCA adapters with Verizon FiOS Internet service?
Answer

The SBM1000 MoCA adapters consist of a SBM1100 adapter with one Ethernet port, and a SBM1400 that includes 4 Ethernet ports.  The SBM1000 MoCA adapters can be integrated with a home network that connects to Verizon FiOS Internet service.  The MoCA adapters are compatible for use with a broadband gateway/router.

This document describes how to install the SBM1000 MoCA adapters with Verizon FiOS Internet service.

Requirements

  • Verizon FiOS Internet service
  • Broadband router
  • Coaxial cable ports in home

Before Installation

Before beginning the installation, verify that the following items are included with the SBM1000 MoCA Adapters.

Connecting with Verizon FiOS service

  1. Identify the desired rooms to add to the home network.

NOTE: Rooms which have a router with built-in MoCA functionality do not require a SBM1000 adapter.  A SBM1000 adapter is only required for rooms in which it is desired to have MoCA functionality, but doesn't already include a router with this functionality.

  2. Make sure the MoCA adapter is powered OFF.
  3. Locate the cable wall outlet and electrical wall outlet in the room.
  4. Disconnect the coaxial cable from the TV or set-top box and connect it to the IN port on one of the RF splitters (included).
  5. Connect one of the coaxial cables (included) to the Coax In port of the SBM1400 and one of the Out ports on the RF splitter (included).
  6. Connect a second coaxial cable (included) to the coaxial port on the TV or set-top box and the other Out port on the RF splitter (included).
  7. Connect one of the Ethernet cables (included) to one of the Ethernet ports on the back of the SBM1400 and the Ethernet/network port of the Smart TV.

NOTE:  If there are other networked A/V devices, connect other Ethernet cables (not included) from those devices to other Ethernet ports of the SBM1400.

  8. Connect one of the power adapters to the Power port on the back of the SBM1400.
  9. Plug the power adapter into the electrical wall outlet.
  10. Connect another coaxial cable (included) to the Coax In port of the SBM1100 and one of the Out ports on the RF splitter (included).
  11. Connect another coaxial cable (included) to the coaxial port on the TV or set-top box and the other OUT port on the RF splitter (included).
  12. Connect the other Ethernet cable (included) to the Ethernet port on the back of the SBM1100 and the Ethernet/network port on the SmartTV or other networked A/V device.
  13. Connect the other power adapter to the Power port on the back of the SBM1100.
  14. Plug the power adapter into the electrical wall outlet.
  15. The Coax LEDs on both MoCA adapters should turn ON within three minutes to indicate that a secure coaxial link was established between the two adapters.

NOTE: If the Coax LED does not turn ON within four minutes, disconnect the power adapter from both MoCA adapters and then reconnect them.
