Question
How do I setup a MoCA security password in my SBM1000 devices?
Answer

By default, the SBM1000 devices are configured without a MoCA security password.  This means that any MoCA devices that are physically connected to the same cabling topology can join the MoCA network.  This can cause a possible security breach in buildings such as an apartment complex.

The SBM1000 devices have the ability to be configured with a MoCA security password, which would only allow MoCA devices that are configured with the same password to join the MoCA network.  If the SBM1000 devices are going to connect to a MoCA network that is already setup with a password, then the SBM1000 devices will need to be configured with the MoCA password that is already setup for the MoCA network.   This document describes how to configure the SBM1000 devices with a MoCA security password.

CAUTION:  Once the SBM1000 devices are configured with a MoCA security password, other MoCA devices will not be able to connect to the MoCA network if they are not configured with the same security password.

NOTE:  The steps in this document require access to the Graphical User Interface (GUI) of the SBM1000 devices.  In order to accomplish this, the computer will need to be manually configured with an IP address of 192.168.144.1 and a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0.

For instructions on how to manually configure an IP address in the computer, please refer to:
