Question
What steps do I take if the WAN LED is flashing on my cable modem and I am unable to connect to the Internet with my SBR-AC1750?
Answer

When the SBR-AC1750 is connected to a cable modem and the WAN LED is consistently flashing, the clients in the network will not have Internet access.   This document explains the workaround to regain Internet access.

NOTE: If the SBR-AC1750 is connected to a Wi-Fi cable modem or cable gateway, bridge mode will need to be configured on the Wi-Fi cable modem or cable gateway for Internet.

Reboot cable modem

  1. Disconnect the power cord on the cable modem and reconnect the power cord to reboot the modem.
NOTE: The SBR-AC1750 should remain powered on and alone.
  1. Wait for the top 4 LEDs to become solid on the cable modem.
  2. The WAN LED on the SBR-AC1750 should now become solid indicating Internet connection.
NOTE: If the WAN LED on the SBR-AC1750 continues to flash, follow the reboot sequence on the cable modem and the SBR-AC1750.

Reboot cable modem and SBR-AC1750

  1. Disconnect the power cable and the WAN Ethernet cable from the SBR-AC1750.
  2. Disconnect the power cable from the Cable Modem.
  3. Power on Cable Modem and wait for the top 4 LEDs to become solid.
  4. Power on the SBR-AC1750 and wait for the Power, 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz LEDs to become solid.

NOTE: Reconnect the SBR-AC1750 WAN Ethernet Connection, only after the SBR-AC1750 has completed its restart

  5. The WAN LED on the SBR-AC1750 will become solid indicating Internet connection.

NOTE: If the Cable Modem is reset at a later time, you may need to repeat this process if you lose Internet Connectivity.
