Question
How do I restrict web browsing in my SBR-AC3200P?
Answer
The SBR-AC3200P Parental Controls feature provides the ability to block or allow Internet access during a specified Time of Day.  Access permissions can be assigned to all devices on the network, or a specific device (e.g. computer, gaming console, tablet).  By default, Parental Controls is disabled, which allows all Internet access to all devices.  This document describes how to block one device from accessing the Internet for a specified Time of Day.

This document contains the following sections:

Requirement

To block one device from accessing the Internet, the MAC address of that device will need to be entered into the MAC Address settings. 

 
Creating a Web Browsing Restrict Entry
  1. Launch a web browser, such as Internet Explorer, Firefox, or Safari.  Enter http://192.168.0.1 into the address box, and press the Enter key.  The Login page will appear.
  2. On the Login page, enter admin in the Username field.
  3. Enter password in the Password field.
  4. Click the Login button.  The Home page will appear.

  5. Move the mouse-cursor over Basic on the top menu, and click the DHCP link from the drop-down sub-menu.  The Basic - DHCP page will appear.

  6. Locate and copy the client's MAC Address under Attached Client List section to be used for Parental Control setup​.

  7. Move the mouse-cursor over Basic on the top menu, and click the Time Zone link from the drop-down sub-menu.  The Basic - Time Zone page will appear.

  8. Click the Current Time Zone drop-down menu and select the current time zone.
  9. Select Yes for Automatically adjust for Daylight Saving Time.
  10. Click the Apply button.

  11. Move the mouse-cursor over Firewall on the top menu, and click the Parental Control link from the drop-down sub-menu.  The Firewall - Parental Control page will appear.

  12. On the Firewall - Parental Controls page, click the Create drop-down menu and select the Block Web Browsing link.  The Block Web Browsing page will appear.

  13. On the Block Web Browsing page, enter a description of the client device in the Description field.
  14. Enter the MAC Address of the client device to block in the MAC Address field.
  15. Select EveryDay to block Internet access every day of the week, or select the desired day(s) to block.
  16. Select All day to block Internet access all the time or enter the specific period of time into the Start and End fields.

    NOTE:  Hours (hour) and Minutes (min) must be entered as two digits (e.g. 07, 12).

     
  17. Click the Enabled drop-down menu, and select On.
  18. Click the Apply button.

    Right click on the image to save it to your computer.
     
  19. The Firewall - Parental Control page will now appear, and will display a filtering entry.

    NOTE 1: Repeat steps 13 - 19 for additional desired device.

    NOTE 2: For the settings to take effect, the web browser(s) on the device(s) will need to be closed and re-opened.

Removing a Web Browsing Restrict Entry
  1. Launch a web browser, such as Internet Explorer, Firefox, or Safari.  Enter http://192.168.0.1 into the address box, and press the Enter key.  The Login page will appear.
  2. On the Login page, enter admin in the Username field.
  3. Enter password in the Password field.
  4. Click the Login button.  The Home page will appear.
  5. On the Home page, click on Parental Controls.  The Firewall - Parental Controls page will appear.

    Right click on the image to save it to your computer.
     
  6. On the Firewall - Parental Controls  page, find the desired entry to remove, and click the Remove button.

    NOTE: For the settings to take effect, the web browser(s) on the device(s) will need to be closed and re-opened.
