SBX-1000P: Firmware Upgrade

Question
How do I upgrade the firmware for the SBR-AC1900P?
Answer
Firmware is programming software that is written into the device to function.  In some cases there may a need to update or enhance the product features.  An update of the firmware may be beneficial to keep the product up to date.  Before upgrading the firmware verify the current firmware in the SBX-AC1000P.  This document contains the following sections:
Verify Current Firmware
  1. Launch a web browser, such as Internet Explorer, Firefox, or Safari. Enter http://192.168.100.254 into the address box, and press the Enter key.  The Login page appears.

    NOTE 1: By default the LAN IP address is 192.168.100.254.  If the default address has been changed, enter the custom address in the address box.

    NOTE 2: For instructions on how to login SBX-1000P, please refer to Article # 16140 -  SBX-1000P: Login Access.

    Right click on the image to save it to your computer.
     
  2. On the Login page, enter password in the Password field.
  3. Click the Apply button.  The Status - Device page appears.
  4. Verify the current firmware version as shown in the green box.

    NOTE: Refer to the Download Firmware section to determine the firmware shown in the unit is up to date.

Download the Latest Firmware

  1. Launch a web browser, such as Internet Explorer, Firefox, or Safari. Enter arris.com/selfhelp into the address box and press the Enter Key.  The Welcome to ARRIS Consumer Support page appears.
  2. On the Welcome to ARRIS Consumer Support page, place the mouse cursor over SURFboard Cable Modems and Gateways and then click on Go to Models box.
  3. Move the mouse cursor over the SBX-1000P product and then click on Details box.
  4.  Click on the Drivers and Firmware tab.

    NOTE: If the current firmware in the SBX-1000P matches the latest one on the site, the unit is up to date.

  5. Click the OK button on Select 'Save' when prompted. dialog box.
  6. Click the Save button on File Download dialog box.  The Save As window appears.
  7. On the Save As window,
    a.   Save in - Select Desktop in the pull-down menu.
    b.   File name - Leave at default name SBR-1000P-1.0.8.
    c.   Save as type - Leave at default type,
    d.   Click the Save button.
Upgrade Firmware
  1. Launch a web browser, such as Internet Explorer, Firefox, or Safari.  Enter http://192.168.0.1 into the address box and press the Enter key.  The Login page appears.

    NOTE: By default the LAN IP address is 192.168.0.1.  If the default address has been changed, enter the custom address in the address box.

  2. On the Login page, enter password in the Password field.
  3. Click the Login button.  The Status - Device page appears.

  4. Move the mouse-cursor over the Basic tab and select the Firmware Upgrade sub-link.  The Basic - Firmware Upgrade page appears.

  5. On the Basic - Firmware Upgrade page, click the Choose File button.  The Open box appears. 
  6. Click on Desktop to select the firmware file SBX-1000P-1.0.8.
  7. Click the Open button.

  8. On the Basic - Firmware Upgrade page, click the Apply button.

  9. The Performing Firmware window appears.

    CAUTION: The extender may be unresponsive to commands for 90 seconds.  Please do not turn off or reboot the extender during this time.

  10. Once the extender finishes updating the firmware.  Click Reboot to restart the extender.

  11. Once the extender completes the process, the Performing Reboot page appears.

  12. Lastly, the extender will refresh back to the Login page.
