Question
How do I enable Remote Management on my SURFboard device using the SURFboard Manager App?
Answer
NOTE:  This article applies to RipCurrent models SBR-AC1200P, SBR-AC1900P, and SBR-AC3200P.  

By default, access to the ARRIS Wi-Fi products configuration menu is only accessible from the local network.  However, the ARRIS Wi-Fi product can also be configured to be accessible from anywhere on the Internet.  This document contains the following sections:
Enable Remote Management
  1. Tap the SURFboard icon.  The Login screen will appear.
     
  2. On the Login screen, enter admin in the Username field and password in the Password field.

    NOTE: If the default login credentials were previously changed please enter custom credentials.  If the customized login credentials are forgotten a factory reset must be performed by pressing the reset button for more than 10 seconds on the SURFboard Wi-Fi product.  This will reset all customized settings.

     
  3. Tap the Login button.  The ARRIS home screen will appear.

  4. Tap the Menu icon on the top-left corner.  The sliding menu will appear.

  5. Tap the Settings link.  The Settings screen will appear.

  6. Under Remote Config Management, slide the switch to the right.  The SURFboard prompt will appear.

  7. On the SURFboard prompt, tap the Yes button.  The Changes Applied Successfully prompt will appear.

  8. On the Change Applied Successfully prompt, tap the OK button.

    NOTE: To disable Remote Management, repeat steps 1-5, then slide the switch to the left and follow the prompts.

Access Device Remotely

Once Remote Config Management is enabled, the Web Manager of the ARRIS Wi-Fi device can be accessed by a client device from a remote location.  In order to use Remote Config Management, it is required to use the WAN IP address of the ARRIS Wi-Fi device.
 
  1. Tap the SURFboard icon.  The Login screen will appear.
     
  2. On the Login screen, enter admin in the Username field and password in the Password field.

    NOTE: If the default login credentials were previously changed please enter custom credentials.  If the customized login credentials are forgotten a factory reset must be performed by pressing the reset button for more than 10 seconds on the SURFboard Wi-Fi product.  This will erase all customized settings and reset to the original factory default settings.

     
  3. Tap the Login button.  The ARRIS home screen will appear.

  4. Tap the Menu icon on the top-left corner.  The sliding menu will appear.

  5. On the SURFboard Home screen, under Devices, tap the ARRIS gateway.  The Wireless Gateway Details screen will appear.

  6. On the Wireless Gateway Details screen, scroll down and tap the Show More link.

  7. Continue to scroll down the the Internet IP Address section to locate and copy the WAN IP address.

  8. From the remote client, enter the ARRIS Wi-Fi product's Internet IP address in a web browser.  The ARRIS Login page will appear.
