Question
How do I use the two Ethernet ports on the back panel of my T25 Cable Modem?
Answer
The T25 DOCSIS 3.1 cable modem is equipped with two 1-Gigabit Ethernet (10/100/1000) ports on the back panel.  Each Ethernet ports transmit data up to 1 Gigabit per second.  For a typical setup, connect one device (computer or Wi-Fi router) to an Ethernet port on the back of the T25 cable modem for Internet access.

Connect Multiple Client Devices
The T25 is a cable modem and allows one client device for Internet access.  To provide Internet access to multiple client devices in the home network, add a Wi-Fi router to connect to the T25 cable modem or replace the T25 with a Wi-Fi cable modem like G34, G36, or SBG8300.

Add Advanced Features
The T25 is a cable modem and does not include advanced features such as Wi-Fi, parental controls, port forwarding, and router functions.  For advanced features, add a Wi-Fi router to connect to the T25 cable modem or replace the T25 with a Wi-Fi cable modem like G34, G36, or SBG8300.

Utilize Both Ethernet Ports
The 2nd Ethernet port can be used for adding additional IP address for Internet service.  The 2nd IP address must be subscribed from the cable provider; not all cable providers offer additional IP address for residential service.
