WR2100: Configuration Backup and Restore Tool

How do I back and restore the configuration setting in my WR2100 Wireless Repeater?

The Backup and Restore feature in the WR2100 allows users to save and restore the configuration settings locally on a computer.  This document contains the following sections:

• To backup the WR2100 configurations
• To restore the WR2100 configurations

NOTE: When attempting to connect to the WR2100 GUI, If http://www.mywifirepeater.net is unresolvable, please refer to Article # 9518 WR2100: IP Address Lookup

To Backup the WR2100 Configuration

CAUTION: It is highly recommended to perform backup configuration with the WR2100's default login password.

1. Make sure the wireless access point is powered on and working properly. 
2. Plug the WR2100 into a power outlet near the wireless access point.
3. Press the Power button on the bottom of the WR2100.  The Power LED stays on for a few seconds then starts blinking.  Wait until the Power LED becomes solid again to be ready for use. 
   
   
    
4. Connect an Ethernet cable from the WR2100 to a PC. 
5. Launch a web browser, such as Internet Explorer, Firefox, or Safari.  Enter http://www.mywifirepeater.net/ or http://192.168.0.254 in the address box, and press the Enter key.  The Login page appears.
6. On the Login page, enter admin in the Username field.
7. Enter password in the Password field.
8. Press the Enter key.  The ARRIS Setup page appears.
   
   
    
9. On the ARRIS Setup page, click the Maintenance from the left-hand menu.   The Maintenance page appears.

11. On the Maintenance page, click the Backup button.
12. Click the OK button on the Select "Save" when prompted, dialog box.
13. Click the Save button on the File download dialog box.  The Save As window appears.
14. On the Save As window:
    a.   Save in - Select Desktop in the pull-down menu.
    b.   File name - Leave at default name Routercfg.

    c.   Save as type - Leave at default type, CFG File.

    d.   Click the Save button.

    e.   Click the Close button.

     

    

     

To Restore the WR2100 Configuration

1. Launch a web browser, such as Internet Explorer, Firefox, or Safari.  Enter http://www.mywifirepeater.net/ or http://192.168.0.254 in the address box, and press the Enter key.  The Login page appears.
2. On the Login page:
   a.   Enter admin in the Username field.
   b.   Enter password in the Password field.

   c.   Press the Enter key.  The ARRIS Setup page appears.
    
   
    
3. On the ARRIS Setup page, click the Maintenance from the left-hand menu.   The Maintenance page appears.
    
   
    
4. On the Maintenance page, click the Browse button.  The System Window appears.
5. On the System Window,
   a.   Select Desktop.
   b.   Select the Routercfg.cfg file.
   c.   Click the Open button.
6. Click the Restore button.
    
   
    
7. A window will pop-up, click the OK button.
    
   
    
8. The WR2100 will reboot.
    
   
    
9. Once the reboot is complete, a window will pop-up, click the OK button.
