Question
How do I configure a Windows 10 computer for basic connectivity?
Answer
By default, Windows 10 is configured as a DHCP client.  However, if Windows 10 has been configured with a static (manually configured) IP address, and if the computer needs to receive an IP address automatically, then Windows 10 will need to be reconfigured as a DHCP client.  To configure a computer with Static IP the following settings are required:
  • IP Address
  • Subnet Mask
  • Default Gateway
  • Preferred DNS Address/server
  • Alternate DNS Address/server
