Question
How do I prioritize the network traffic for my devices?
Answer
NOTE: This article applies to the mAX W21, W121, W122 Express, W30, W130, W31, W133, W61, and the W161 Routers.

The Device Priority (also known as QoS or Quality of Service) feature prioritizes the network traffic for specific client devices in the mAX home network.  Gaming or video streaming devices can enjoy high performance over other client devices during high Internet usage.

By default Device Level Prioritization is disabled.  When Device Level Prioritization is enabled, the added client device's Network Device Priority is set to Normal.  Only one client device can be at the Highest Priority and the rest of the client devices can have High or Normal.  This document describes how to set up Device Priority.

  7. Tap the device to add to the Network Device Priority list, then tap the Add Device button.

NOTE: Some client devices will display Device as the device name.  A few factors can happen as the client device is not detected by the Internet of Things (IoT), MAC Address is randomized, and iOS devices do not share MAC Address information.  It is recommended to change the device's name.  For assistance with device name change refer to article # 18468 - mAX Routers: Device Details (Connected Clients).

  8. The selected device is added to the Network Device Priority list with Normal priority by default.  Tap Highest or High to set that priority for the device.  ONLY ONE device can be set to the highest priority.

NOTE 1: Repeat steps 5 - 8 to add another device and set its priority.

NOTE 2: To remove a device, swipe the device to the left and tap the Delete button. On the Alert pop-up box tap the OK button.
