Question
How do I add a mAX satellite extender to the network?
Answer
The W11 wall-plug satellite extender is included with the SURFboard mAX® Express System and it can be installed immediately after the main router (W21) is successfully onboarded or at a later time.  The SURFboard mAX® Express system provides Wi-Fi coverage up to 5,550 sq. ft.  

Adding the W11 Satellite Extender 
  1. Tap the My Network icon on the bottom of the screen.

  2. Tap either one of the unfilled + mAX Router icons.

  3. Tap the Install Now button.

  4. Tap the box for W11, then tap the Next button.

  5. Tap the Next button to start onboarding the Satellite unit.

  6. Unpack the satellite unit and tap the Next button after taking all items out of the box.

  7. Tap the Continue button to begin reviewing the placement tips.

  8. Placement tip # 1: Place the main Router and the Satellite on different floors for better coverage.  Tap the Next button.

  9. Placement tip #2: Place the main Router and Satellites at least 10 - 30 feet apart.  Tap the Next button.

  10. Placement tip #3: Place the mAX in an open and elevated spot.  Avoid placing next to large appliances.  Tap the Next button.

  11. Placement tip #4: Place the Satellite in a central location and keep it in a spot that's in the vicinity of the majority of the client devices so that the Satellite has a good line of sight of the devices.  Tap the Continue button.

  12. Plug the mAX Satellite into the wall outlet in the upright position.  Tap the Next button, when the mAX satellite flashes green and white.

  13. Tap the Next button to connect to the onboarding Wi-Fi network without Internet access.

  14. Tap the Join button.

    NOTE: Android devices will automatically connect to the Wi-Fi network.

  15. The mobile device being used for onboarding will connect to the Satellite.

  16. The Satellite is now successfully connected.  Tap the Next button.

  17. Tap the Join button to connect to the mAX Wi-Fi network.

    NOTE: Android devices will automatically connect to the Wi-Fi network.

  18. The Satellite is connecting to the network.

  19. The mAX Satellite will begin registering onto the cloud server, this is to keep the device up to date.

  20. Tap the Next button, the Satellite will begin checking for Firmware updates.

  21. Tap the OK button.

    NOTE: The Wi-Fi network connection may be disconnected during this time.  Please reconnect to the Wi-Fi network through settings if not connected.

  22. The network is being optimized, please allow up to 15 minutes for this process, certain network configurations will be unavailable during this time.

  23. The Satellite Extender will now be shown in My Network section.
